The Arkansas Governor’s Challenge team is planning the 988 Veterans Governor’s Challenge event on September 8, also known as 9/8 Day. 

 

The purpose of this event is to increase statewide awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, strengthen prevention messaging, support Service Members, Veterans, and their Families, promote upstream prevention, and connect communities to wrap-around supports. 

The event is proposed as an annual statewide awareness and prevention anchor for Arkansas. 

 

Due to logistics related to the Capitol event request, the event is now expected to move inside to the Capitol Rotunda. This setting provides a meaningful opportunity for a focused statewide message, proclamation recognition, and community call to action.
